The "Levante" was a motor vessel owned by the Sardinian Armament Company. It left Genoa in 1963 with 12 people on board, 267 live cattle, 40 tons of pipes and 218 boxes of ball bearings bound for Tunis. After unloading the cattle, it set sail again for Marseille. Sailing along the coast of Ogliastra at the mercy of the Tramontana wind, it tried to take shelter inside the inlet of Portu Cuau but one of the anchors gave way, causing the motor vessel to crash against the coast and explode. All passengers lost their lives. Today it is possible to explore the seabed strewn with wreckage on a sandy seabed at a depth of 12 m. The remains of the engine and the bow are evocative. Over the years, new lives have taken possession of the metal remains, now covered with encrusting organisms. In the crevices of the sheets you can find hidden red scorpion fish and scorpion fish, octopuses and anemones. More rare are the cuttlefish and stingrays lying on the sand.
