L'Estartit is a small town in the north east of Spain. The coast is beautiful, with cliffs and beaches.
The Medes Islands is a National Marine Park that has been protected since 1990. The underwater life is amazing, you can see, in this small area, most the species of the Mediteranean life, and in sizes that you couldn't imagine: groupers, barracudas, moray eels, dentex, eagle rays, red hard coral, soft coral, nudibranches ...
The season starts in March and ends in December. Obviously the best moment is when the water is warm and there is more life, and that is from July to September. Even though, the mid season is very peaceful, not many people in town except of diver, and the outside temperature is softer (summer is very very warm).
To get to L'Estartit you have to take AP7 and exit in the # 5. Follow the sighs to Torroella de Montgri and once there follow Estartit.
By train or plane, you can arrive to Barcelona (150km away) or Girona (50km away) and then rent a car or use the public transport.
