The Isla del Cano Nature Reserve is often referred to as one of the best dive sites in Costa Rica. The diving season in Costa Rica starts in December and lasts until June. This is therefore the best time for a diving trip. During this time, conditions for diving are ideal, and the water temperature remains within the limits of 24-29°C (75-84°F). Visibility underwater reaches up to 30m (98 ft).
During the rainy season, conditions change and the water temperature drops. During this period, however, you can see many interesting animals, which is why the diving season around Caño Island lasts practically all year round.
