Diving Ensenada

Explore diving Ensenada

Scuba diving in Ensenada offers a unique blend of Pacific Ocean biodiversity, dramatic underwater landscapes, and historic wrecks. Divers can explore kelp forests, volcanic rock reefs, and sunken vessels like the Vicente Guerrero, now teeming with marine life. Expect to encounter sea lions, moray eels, nudibranchs, lobsters, and schools of reef fish. Visibility averages 20–60 feet depending on the season, and water temperatures vary significantly, so wetsuits are recommended. Ensenada’s dive scene is ideal for adventurous intermediate and advanced divers looking for rugged beauty and fewer crowds than tropical destinations.

When to dive Ensenada

Scuba diving conditions in Ensenada are most favorable from July through October, when sea temperatures rise to 68–75°F and visibility is typically at its best. Summer and early fall offer calmer seas, vibrant marine life, and consistent dive charters. Spring (April–June) is cooler but still diveable, with fewer tourists and active sea lion sightings. Winter months (November–March) bring colder water (low 50s°F) and rougher seas, requiring thicker wetsuits or drysuits and making conditions better suited for experienced divers. Regardless of the season, Ensenada’s diverse underwater terrain offers year-round exploration for the adventurous.
