Although landlocked, diving in Laos offers unique freshwater experiences in rivers, caves, and flooded caverns rather than ocean diving. Areas around Vang Vieng and southern Laos feature submerged caves, sinkholes, and clear spring-fed systems that attract experienced and technical divers. Visibility can be excellent in caves, with dramatic limestone formations and calm conditions. With minimal dive tourism and a growing technical community, Laos scuba diving is best suited to advanced divers seeking exploratory freshwater and cave-diving adventures.
