Guanaja marks the beginning of the second largest barrier reef in the world – the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef. With a mixture of pinnacles, vertical walls, lava tunnels and one of the most sought-after wrecks in the Caribbean, Guanaja is a joy for all divers.
Guanaja offers some of the healthiest coral reefs in the Caribbean- several species of coral including the rare black coral and tiny black-spotted nudibranchs make the reef system an ideal place for macro photography. It's no surprise the area has a reputation for offering world-class diving.
Getting to Guanaja does take a wee bit of effort, but this is what helps keep it so pristine. Once you arrive, it takes no time to realize you are somewhere off the beaten track.
There are options available for flying to Guanaja via San Pedro Sula and Roatan.
Interisland flights are available on Lanhsa Airlines, CM Airlines, and Private charters can also be arranged.
There is a ferry and private boat charters that offer a convenient connection to Guanaja from Roatan.
