The Passage is a narrow, high‑current tidal channel dive site in northern Raja Ampat, connecting two major island groups within Dampier Strait, famous for powerful tidal surges that create dramatic fish storms and reliable pelagic marine life sightings for advanced drift divers. This underwater corridor stretches from 15 to 35 meters depth, with steep coral‑covered walls on both sides of the channel, funneling strong tidal currents that draw nutrient‑rich plankton and large predatory fish into the passage during tide changes. Divers drift along the channel walls, witnessing massive schools of barracudas, giant trevally, yellowtail jacks, and snappers that gather to feed on smaller baitfish swept through the current, while blacktip reef sharks and occasional scalloped hammerheads patrol the channel’s deeper edges.
