Manta Sandy is a renowned shallow‑water manta cleaning station beside Manta Ridge in Dampier Strait, Raja Ampat, celebrated for its wide sandy plateau with year‑round reliable reef manta sightings and highly accessible diving conditions. Featuring a broad sandy seabed at 8–15 m surrounded by low hard‑coral outcrops, it provides an ideal habitat for small cleaner fish to serve mantas of all ages, including juveniles. Peak manta activity runs from May to October, when cool nutrient‑rich upwellings draw mantas to queue for cleaning, often forming vertical stacks for close diver observation. Night dives here are exceptional too: mantas linger after sunset, sharing the shallow sand with moray eels, octopuses and glowing bioluminescent plankton. With nearly non‑existent currents, 20–28 m visibility and stable 27–30 °C water temperature, it suits Open Water divers and snorkelers, a rare feature for global manta sites.
