Manta Alley sits at the southernmost tip of Komodo Island within Komodo National Park, Indonesia, an exclusive liveaboard-only channel dive exposed fully to Indian Ocean swells and persistent tidal currents. Narrow rocky corridors and scattered coral bommies form natural funnels to channel cold, nutrient-rich upwelled seawater, triggering massive plankton blooms that attract staggering numbers of reef manta rays year-round. Divers often spot 10 to 30 mantas in one dive, either queuing on sandy cleaning stations for small cleaner fish to remove parasites or forming swirling feeding vortexes while gulping plankton in fast currents. Besides iconic mantas, divers regularly meet mobula rays, whitetip reef sharks, giant trevally, bumphead parrotfish and sea turtles cruising rocky slopes. Reef surfaces are dotted with colourful soft corals, gorgonian sea fans and barrel sponges covering boulder crevices, sheltering schools of fusiliers, sweetlips and various reef crustaceans.
