Description

Portsmouth Olympic Harbour Beach is a popular shore dive site known for its mix of history and aquatic life. With a gentle rocky entry, it’s accessible for all skill levels. Nearshore, divers can explore remnants of ship hulls, once part of Portsmouth’s maritime past, now serving as habitats for freshwater species. Guide lines lead to two notable anchors—one metal, the other a wooden-stocked anchor marked by the British navy markings. Further south, a stop sign marks the way to the "Stacked Hulls" dive site, about 800 meters offshore. The sandy, rocky bottom supports smallmouth bass and other wildlife. The site is also a prime spot for training and refresher dives due to its calm conditions and fascinating underwater features. However, caution is needed as boat traffic from the nearby marina is frequent. Using a dive flag and maintaining awareness are advised. This dive offers an exciting mix of historical exploration and encounters with local marine life.
