what to expect

Time Commitment

PADI Courses are performance-based, which means you need to meet specific learning objectives to progress. The time varies for each individual, and normally takes between 4 full days to several weeks.

cost

You can expect to spend a few hundred dollars, the same as other outdoor sport lessons like:

  • Surfing or paddle boarding
  • Rock-climbing, fly-fishing, or kayaking
  • Golfing

essential gear

When you first start learning, at a minimum you’ll want your own mask, snorkel and fins that fit you comfortably. Your PADI Dive Shop or Resort may also rent the rest of the equipment and will help you select gear that’s just right for you when you’re ready to buy.
