Visitors to West Virginia might not have contemplated diving here, but the sheer amount of caves, quarries, and lakes will leave divers wanting more.
Summersville Lake is a true jewel of West Virginia. Known as ‘The Little Bahamas of the East’ its exceptional water clarity from the freshwater is paradise for scuba divers. The peaceful lake has everything, steep rocky cliffs, huge cliffs, boulders, overhangs, and dramatic rock walls. The lake is also teeming with aquatic life, including bass, walleye, and catfish.
Mount Storm Lake is another popular spot amongst the locals in West Virginia. The lake is surrounded by beautiful trees, and offers incredibly warm water. Mount Storm Lake also features platforms at various depths and is home to catfish, bluegill, and mussels.
The water in the cooler months means a 3/5mm wetsuit is recommended. A 3mm wetsuit is advised by the locals in the warmer months.
