Diving Jupiter

Explore diving Jupiter

Jupiter, Florida, offers some of the best drift diving in the United States. Fueled by the Gulf Stream’s steady currents, this vibrant underwater world features thriving coral reefs, stunning marine life, and dramatic wreck sites. With its warm waters, consistent conditions, and diverse wildlife encounters, Jupiter is a must-visit destination for adventurous divers.

  • Sharks: Spot lemon sharks, reef sharks, nurse sharks, and even the occasional bull shark.

  • Goliath Groupers: Witness these massive fish, especially during their spectacular summer aggregations.

  • Colourful Reefs: Explore coral-encrusted ledges teeming with tropical fish, moray eels, rays, and more.

  • Historic Wrecks: Discover sunken vessels and artificial reefs that have become marine life havens.

When to dive Jupiter

Jupiter offers great diving year-round, but the best conditions are typically from July through October. During these months, water temperatures are at their warmest, visibility is at its clearest, and marine life activity peaks. This is the prime season to encounter Goliath Grouper aggregations, abundant sea turtles, and frequent shark sightings.

Winter and spring months also offer excellent diving, with slightly cooler water and lively reef activity. Drift conditions remain consistent throughout the year, making Jupiter a reliable destination for divers seeking adventure in any season.

  • Currents: Drift diving is the norm, with moderate to strong currents carrying divers effortlessly along the sites.

  • Visibility: Typically ranges from 40 to 80 feet, improving during summer and fall months.

  • Water Temperatures: Vary from 74°F (23°C) in winter to 86°F (30°C) in summer.

  • Depths: Most dives range between 60 to 90 feet (18 to 27 meters), suitable for intermediate and advanced divers.
