Diving along the UAE East Coast, particularly in Khorfakkan and Fujairah, offers the most diverse and natural scuba diving experience in the country. Unlike the calmer but more limited visibility of the west coast, the east coast opens directly to the Gulf of Oman, providing clearer water, stronger currents, and healthier coral reefs that support rich marine biodiversity. This makes the region ideal for both recreational diving and professional training.
Khorfakkan is widely regarded as one of the top diving destinations in the UAE. It features a mix of easy shore dives and scenic boat dives, with depths suitable for beginners while still offering excitement for advanced divers. Divers can expect to see green and hawksbill turtles, stingrays, reef sharks, moray eels, nudibranchs, cuttlefish, and large schools of reef fish, all surrounded by vibrant hard and soft corals. The underwater terrain includes rocky formations, coral pinnacles, and gentle slopes, making it perfect for courses, fun dives, and underwater photography.
Fujairah, just a short drive away, complements Khorfakkan with iconic dive sites such as Snoopy Island, known for its colorful coral gardens and abundant marine life. Fujairah’s dive sites are excellent for training, Discover Scuba Diving experiences, and relaxed fun dives, offering calm conditions, shallow reefs, and deeper areas for skill progression. The region is also popular for night diving, where octopus, crabs, and other nocturnal creatures come alive.
Together, Khorfakkan and Fujairah provide year-round diving opportunities, a wide range of dive sites, and some of the most rewarding underwater scenery in the UAE. Whether you are taking your first breaths underwater, advancing your certification, or simply enjoying fun dives, the east coast delivers a truly authentic ocean diving experience right on the UAE’s doorstep.
Both Dubai’s and Abu Dhabi’s international airports welcome flights from around the world. There is an additional international airport in Sharjah that hosts flight originating in the Middle East.
It is also possible to reach the United Arab Emirates by car from neighbouring countries or by ship.
Once you have safely arrived in the United Arab Emirates, travel around the country is easily completed by metro, taxis, rental cars and buses.
Traveling to the East Coast will add 90 minutes to both sides of your diving day - a journey well worth it to take advantage of the vibrant reefs and plentiful marine life found in the area.
