Diving Stann Creek

Explore diving Stann Creek

Scuba diving in Stann Creek, Belize, is a mesmerizing experience, offering access to some of the most pristine and less-crowded sections of the Belize Barrier Reef. This region, home to coastal towns like Placencia and Hopkins, features healthy coral reefs, deep walls, patch reefs, and thriving marine life. Divers can explore sites teeming with colorful reef fish, sea turtles, moray eels, stingrays, and even the occasional manatee or whale shark. Dive excursions to Gladden Spit, Silk Cayes, and South Water Caye Marine Reserve showcase vibrant biodiversity and crystal-clear Caribbean waters. It’s a tranquil yet exhilarating diving destination ideal for nature lovers.

When to dive Stann Creek

The best time to go scuba diving in Stann Creek is from March to June, when water conditions are calm, visibility reaches up to 30 meters, and marine life is thriving. This period is also peak season for whale shark sightings near Gladden Spit, especially during the full moons of April and May. The dry season, from November to May, offers the most consistent dive conditions with warm, clear water (averaging 27–29°C). The wet season (June to October) brings fewer tourists and lush green landscapes, though occasional tropical storms may reduce visibility. For the best blend of wildlife and tranquility, aim for late April or early June.
