Pakistan is emerging as a new diving destination. The industry is embryonic with only a handful of dive centres so there are no crowds, deserted dive sites and pristine reefs. The most popular dive sites are Charna Island and Astola Island. Divers also like to visit Karachi.
Some examples of what you can see on a dive are angelfish, sea urchins, sea fans, colorful corals, and reefs. The rich marine life includes a great variety of species such as eels, gray sharks, sea fans, oysters, barracudas, and turtles. Divers can admire many types of corals and see amazing reef systems with red and brown water plants and kelp.
The best time for scuba diving in Pakistan is from October to April, when seas are calmer and temperatures are more comfortable. Water temperatures range from 22–28°C depending on the season. The southwest monsoon from May to September can bring rough seas and reduced visibility, limiting dive opportunities. Planning around weather windows is essential for safe and enjoyable diving in Pakistan.
