Latvia is part of the Baltic States in Northern Europe. Latvia shares land borders with Estonia to the north and Lithuania to the south — and both Russia and Belarus to the east.
Wreck diving is popular in Latvia. A German cargo ship was sunk during WW2 at a depth of 27 metres. The ship is broken into three parts: with a well preserved stern and bow. The ship's length is about 100 metres and was carrying a cargo of aircraft ammunition including aerial bombs, acoustic needle mines, projectiles, cartridges and other ammunition. An anti-aircraft gun is mounted on the bow.
Lake diving is very popular in Latvia at the Sloka Lakes and Dridzis Lake which is Latvias deepest at 60 metres and both of these are used for diver certifications.
