However, sea temperatures typically range from 26°C to 29°C, making Potrero a viable dive spot no matter the season—with planning.
Getting to Potrero, Costa Rica, is convenient and scenic, especially via Liberia International Airport (LIR), which is about an hour’s drive away. From the airport, travelers can rent a car, arrange a private transfer, or take a shuttle along well-maintained roads through the Guanacaste region. If you’re coming from San José International Airport (SJO), the drive is longer—roughly 4.5 to 5 hours—but offers a chance to see the countryside. Domestic flights to Tamarindoor Liberia can also reduce travel time.
