Diving Playa Flamingo

Explore diving Playa Flamingo

Scuba diving in Playa Flamingo opens the door to some of the most dynamic underwater ecosystems along Costa Rica’s Pacific coast. Just offshore lie the Catalina and Bat Islands, teeming with marine species like manta rays, eagle rays, sea turtles, reef sharks, and colorful reef fish. The area’s volcanic rock formations and submerged pinnacles create dramatic underwater landscapes ideal for exploration. Divers often encounter both pelagic and reef-dwelling creatures, making each dive unique. With reliable dive operators, welcoming conditions for different skill levels, and vibrant marine life, Playa Flamingo is a standout destination for diving enthusiasts.

When to dive Playa Flamingo

Scuba diving in Playa Flamingo is available year-round, but seasonal changes affect conditions. From December through April, the weather is sunny and dry, offering stable seas and increased visibility. These months are popular with visitors, so expect more boat traffic. May to August sees fewer tourists, occasional showers, and slightly lower visibility, but marine life remains active. September and October bring heavier rain and choppier water, often limiting dive trips, though they appeal to those seeking a quieter experience. Water temperatures stay warm (26–29°C), making it possible to dive in every season with proper planning.
