Diving in Connecticut offers a wide variety of locations for all skill levels - as well as both "freshwater" and "saltwater" options. Sites range from Forests and in-land Lakes (such as Candlewood Lake and Bigelow Hollow State Park), to Rivers (including the Connecticut River) to Quarries (like the Brownstone Adventure Park in Portland) - as well as the Long Island Sound (with shipwrecks, a submarine, and popular sites near Stonington Point). From Connecticut, there is also nearby access to the Atlantic Ocean, within 1-2 hours drive of the Connecticut Border, in neighboring states of Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Most diving is chilly, even in summer, so having a wetsuit or drysuit is beneficial.
