Diving in São Paulo

Explore diving in São Paulo

Scuba diving in the State of São Paulo offers a surprising variety of dive experiences along its Litoral Norte and south coast. Destinations like Ilhabela, Ubatuba, and São Sebastião feature clear waters, rocky reefs, and diverse marine life including sea turtles, moray eels, and tropical fish. Divers can explore caves, walls, and even small wrecks in calm, protected bays. With certified dive centers and PADI instructors across the coast, this region is ideal for both beginners and experienced divers. São Paulo’s coast is one of Brazil’s hidden gems for scuba diving, combining accessibility with rich underwater biodiversity.

When to dive in São Paulo

The best time for scuba diving in the State of São Paulo is from October to April, when weather conditions are stable, and water visibility improves. Summer months (December to March) offer the warmest temperatures and more frequent dive tours, especially around Ilhabela and Ubatuba. Water temperatures average 23–27°C during this period. For fewer crowds and still-excellent conditions, October, November, and April are great alternatives. While diving is possible year-round, May to August may bring colder waters and occasional storms, making it less reliable. For the best experience, plan your dive trip in spring or summer.
