Set along the northern Red Sea, diving in Jordan delivers exceptional underwater experiences concentrated around the resort town of Aqaba. Despite its short coastline, Jordan boasts vibrant coral reefs, dramatic drop-offs, and one of the Middle East’s most impressive collections of artificial reefs and wrecks. Divers can explore sunken military vehicles, aircraft, and ships alongside healthy coral gardens teeming with reef fish, turtles, rays, and occasional sharks. With warm waters and excellent visibility, scuba diving in Jordan rivals top Red Sea destinations while remaining uncrowded.
Thanks to stable Red Sea conditions, Jordan scuba diving is possible year-round. Water temperatures range from 21°C in winter to 27°C in summer, making wetsuit selection easy. Spring and autumn are ideal for calm seas, comfortable air temperatures, and strong visibility. Summer offers warmer water and extended dive times, while winter months still deliver clear conditions with fewer visitors. Marine life is consistent throughout the year, making Aqaba diving reliable in any season.
Accessing Jordan’s dive sites is straightforward via Aqaba King Hussein International Airport (AQJ), which receives direct and connecting flights from major hubs. Many travelers also arrive through Amman Queen Alia International Airport (AMM) and continue south by road or domestic flight. Dive centers in Aqaba are located minutes from the shoreline, providing easy shore and boat access to reefs and wrecks. Compact, well-organized, and scenic, Jordan is an increasingly popular destination for Red Sea scuba diving.
