The lake is a nonmotorised body of water to ensure protection of the clear, blue pristine water quality. They charge a $5.00 daily dive and vehicle pass. The lake was a site of an old Jackson County iron mine. The mine was in operation from the early sixties until April, 1983. To keep the mine from filling while it was in use they would use several high capacity pumps to pump more than 800 gallons of water per MINUTE! Once it closed they let it fill, leaving forests spread through the quarry and roads that wind around the pit where divers can find artifacts including chains, pipes, and more. Massive boulders and shear cliffs, to create challenging dives for more experienced divers. You can encounter 4 training platforms and lots of items that were placed there to keep divers entertained. There is a shark statue, outhouse, buoyancy course, and more!
