Divers with the training and experience can book a 3-tank boat trip from the mainland (autumn is the best time to go). Expect to see electric rays, schools of barracuda, sea lions, and giant black sea bass. Farnsworth is also one of the best places to see rare California hydrocoral - both the pink and purple varieties.
