English coal freighter with a stern engine and three masts. In 1947 it was bought by the Nueva Montaña steel factory in Santander to supply coal to Altos Hornos. In this coming and going, on a quiet night in December 1951, the "Miera" was surprised by a small merchant ship, El Mogador, which rammed it head-on, right on the side, at the height of the bulkhead separating the holds. After the accident, the "Miera" remained sunk in 42 metres of water outside the shelter of Cabezo de la Vaca.
