Commonly known as “Barco del Arroz”, this steamboat sank off the coast of Torrox. In 1907, the “Sociedad Anónima Navegación e Industria” changed the name of this ship to “Delfin”. It is a vessel with a maximum capacity of 1,254 tons and 80 meters in length. On January 30, 1937, during the Civil War, loaded with flour, oil and cod, “Dolphin” was unsuccessfully bombed by German planes. The day after the second attack, “Dolphin” was still floating. On the night of January 31, the Italian submarine “Ciro Menotti”, under the orders of Lieutenant Victor Moccagatta, fired two torpedoes at Delfín, sending it definitively into the depths of the sea. You can still see the structure of the steamboat that lies off the Costa de Torrox.
