Our closest dive site is Atlantis, a travelling time of only 3 minutes. It is a triangular formation of reef made up from spectacular columns of volcanic basalt rock. Millions of years ago when the molten lava cooled, multi sided columns fused together to form this amazing reef. Over the millions of years many of the columns have fallen away from the main formation resembling the ruins of an ancient city - hence the dive site is named "Atlantis".
Our boat will be anchored on top of the reef. We kit up, do our buddy checks then descend down the anchor line to a depth of 16 metres. We can then descend further down the reef to 24 – 30 metres where there is a nice little cave often full of African Grunts. As we explore the reef we find several yellow Gorgonias swaying in the current. The underwater scenery here is breath taking.
