Located in Isla Canales de Afuera, within Coiba National Park, El Faro is a vibrant dive site teeming with life. It is one of the area’s favorite spots, offering encounters with bull sharks, oceanic blacktips, jacks, and even cleaning stations near the end of the island. Divers often spot nurse sharks, schools of mobula rays, and the occasional guitarfish, along with turtles, groupers, colorful reef fish, and healthy coral formations.
The dive begins with a descent to about 20 feet (6 meters), where groups of rocky formations stretch eastward and gradually slope down to the channel floor at around 86 feet (26 meters). In the shallower areas, divers find terraces of rock and sand covered in soft corals, hard corals, and sponges. While the dive can sometimes be calm, strong currents may sweep through the channel, adding excitement and challenge to this unforgettable site.
