Nicknamed Stingray City and Fish Factory, Fish Tank is a one-of-a-kind dive site in North Male Atoll, located directly in front of a working fish processing plant—its nutrient-rich wastewater turns the area into an underwater buffet that attracts staggering numbers of marine life. This site lives up to its name: divers are surrounded by dense, swirling schools of tropical fish and massive gatherings of stingrays, creating the surreal feeling of being inside a giant aquarium.
The terrain is a gentle sandy slope with scattered coral rubble and low reef formations, starting at 5 m and gradually sloping to 20 m. The bottom is mostly sand, making it easy to observe marine life without disturbing the reef. Light, variable currents are common—perfect for relaxed drift diving; when currents pick up, divers can hook in place to watch the spectacle.
