Old Number 12 was named after a long-lost scuba tank, marked #12, that likely fell off a dive boat in rough weather.
The western edge features a classic vertical wall starting at 55 feet, the natural entry point. Heading east, divers ascend a long slope covered in swaying sea fans and soft corals. Hover just above the fans for a mesmerizing view as they move in unison, making the reef feel alive.
The gradual ascent usually leaves time to explore where sand meets the reef. The small eroded lip is perfect for spotting marine life. Look for the unusual Soapfish, often lying motionless on their sides, keeping a watchful eye on you. Their name comes from a unique defense—when caught, they release a bubbly slime that looks like soap suds!
