Named after the East End lighthouse onshore—one of Grand Cayman’s highest points—Lighthouse Wall offers a breathtaking dive. If you visit the lighthouse, be prepared—it’s over 50 feet high, so you might need bottled oxygen and a Sherpa!
The wall features jagged rocky points jutting into the blue, separated by sandy channels that plunge into the abyss. These razor-thin formations are a haven for marine life. In deep water, Star Corals, which form boulders in the shallows, grow as horizontal plates suspended against gravity. Look around them for Longsnout Butterflyfish, often seen solo or in pairs, searching for invertebrates.
During the deep wall section, divers can spot an old sunken rope, now encrusted with algae and sponges, still swaying gently above the void—a haunting reminder of the deep’s timeless nature.
