Lock 23
Overview
Description
Off the municipality of Morrisburg, Ontario (Canada), under the St. Lawrence River, lies lock no. 23. This structure was once part of the seaway that links the Gulf of St. Lawrence to the Great Lakes region. Built at the end of the 19th century, it was swallowed up at the end of the 1950s with the construction of the Cornwall dam. Since then, these vestiges of a bygone era have been an exceptional playground for divers in the region.
