Located on the Seychelles main island “Mahe”, Victoria is the smallest capital in the world. This charming city is in the heart of 115 islands of which 40 are granite islands and 75 are Atolls. It was the Portuguese explorer Vasco de Gama who wrote the first texts referring to the Seychelles.
Located northeast of Madagascar, the three main islands (Mahe-Praslin-La Digue) rest on a huge granite plateau.
Neither volcanic nor coral, this granite plateau is made up of the oldest rocks in the world. Indeed, it is believed to be part of Pangea the single continent.
Further north of the Seychelles is the wonderful Bird Island. A living representation of the richness and uniqueness of the nature and wildlife in the Seychelles, The drop offs that surround it are amongst the most beautiful dives sites in the country.
Since Seychelles became independent in 1976, Seychellois Creole, French and English have been the three official languages.
