Cidade Velha Diving

Cidade Velha Diving is the first and only PADI Dive Center located in the historic town of Cidade Velha, Santiago Island – a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the birthplace of Cabo Verde’s colonial history.

We offer a full range of PADI diving courses and experiences, from Discover Scuba Diving for beginners to Advanced and Rescue Diver certifications. Our guided fun dives and snorkeling tours allow visitors to explore the rich biodiversity and dramatic underwater landscapes of this unique volcanic island.

Dive into warm waters year-round (~25°C) with great visibility and uncover a vibrant ecosystem teeming with tropical reef fish, moray eels, octopus, nudibranchs, sea turtles, and even small rays and nurse sharks. The area also offers a high concentration of shipwrecks from the 16th to the 19th century, many of them still unexplored, including remains of merchant ships, slavers, and naval vessels lost to storms and piracy. These wrecks make Cidade Velha one of the most exciting emerging destinations for lovers of underwater archaeology and history.

Surrounded by volcanic rock formations, coral gardens, and dramatic drop-offs, our dive sites are ideal for both beginners and experienced divers looking for authentic and untouched dive adventures.
