Ari Atoll, feeding on manta rays, elegant whale sharks, and hammerhead sharks, is a deep-sea dream. Most dive sites here are not protected walls or reefs. Instead, the area favors thilas (pinnacles) and kandus (channels), perfect for drift diving. Due to the exposed nature of the atoll, currents can be very strong.
Divers will enjoy colorful schools of fish, formations of eagle rays, and even the occasional guitar shark. Fish Head is a protected marine habitat and one of the best places in Ari Atoll to spot sharks.
The cascading peaks, ranging from 32 to 115 feet (10 to 35 meters), are covered in black coral reefs and dotted with caves and overhangs. The inhabitants include up to 16 grey reef sharks and thousands of blue-lined snapper.
With a year-round water temperature of 28 degrees Celsius, you can travel anytime.
Flights from Europe provide good service at Male Velana International Airport, but may require a stopover. Flights from Asia are expected to make an inbound stop at the initiative before continuing to Male.
If you live in Ari Atoll, you will need to transfer by seaplane (30 minutes), speedboat (1 hour), or local ferry (4-6 hours).
