Exploring the offshore islands will reveal rich rocky reefs, colourful underwater caves & overhangs, & sheltered coves cloaking friendly fish filled kelp forests
Once in the water, be amazed by the diversity of marine life this region has to offer – like Wrasse, Kingfish, Kina, Stingrays, Octopus, Dolphins & occasional Orca.
Diving is available all year round. Sea temps in the summer range from 19 to 21 degrees and in the winter it can range from 14 to 16 degrees.
Accommodation is plentiful being a sought after tourist destination.
And for the non divers there are a huge range of activities to do including visiting The Lost Spring - thermal pools for Adults only. Families love digging a hot pool in the sands of Hot Water Beach.

Fly into Auckland, hire a car and then its a 2 1/2 hour drive south - turning east to the Coromandel Peninsula and then over the mountain range to the stunning east coast of the peninsula.
Or small plane flights are available out of Auckland.
