Tofo's biodiversity is one of the biggest attractions and conditions can stretch and challenge our divers. There are times that our deep dive sites can be subject to currents, and our shallow sites can be affected by surge. The conditions change daily and are difficult to predict which makes it exciting!
The hottest months are January to March – where the land temperatures can reach the mid-30s during the day and remain in the high 20s at night. The air conditioning in all of our rooms is highly prized at this time!
The coolest months are during winter - June to October – where the days are in the very lovely mid-20s, but pack a sweater because in the evening there can be a chill in the air, and at night it can be around 18. The lightweight duvets on our beds will make you feel lovely and cozy.
In short – any time of year is great to experience Tofo!
Main airports include Maputo and Johannesburg. The closest airport is Inhambane, flying with LAM and is a 30 minute drive from Tofo. There are buses from Maputo with Etrago which takes approximately 10 hours and costs around €10.
Car rentals are available from Maputo and Johannesburg. The roads are suitable for long distance and generally safe. A 4x4 vehicle is not necessary but could be recommended if you wanted to explore more remote areas outside of Tofo.
