Sosúa Bay alone has more than 10 great dive sites, and more can be found along the coast to the East. The Western edge of the Bay offers some great Wall diving when conditions allow, and dive sites such as Canyon and Puntilla are classic favorites not more than a 5 minute boat ride from the beach! The Bay is well protected, and therefore offers consistent conditions, with visibility rarely going below 30ft, and averaging at more than 50ft. Temperatures are warm and comfortable, averaging in the early 80sF. Lovers of macro life will be happy diving the abundant coral reefs here, as well as the more adventurous divers who want to check out the Zingara Wreck. Sosúa and Puerto Plata offer something for every diver.
Due to the protection provided by the bay, and the fact that the North Coast of the Dominican Republic is not heavily affected by storms, Sosúa offers year-round diving. The warmest and clearest waters can be found from June to September, but great conditions can be enjoyed throughout the year. Most dive centres close during Semana Santa (14-18 April), but otherwise diving is offered all year.
