PADI Certification Card FAQs
The fastest way to get a replacement PADI card is to buy a PADI eCard. You can download it instantly after purchase.
A PADI eCard is an electronic version of the physical certification card. It displays all the information instructors and dive operations need to verify certification.
Physical replacement cards are printed and mailed within two business days but can take two weeks or more to arrive. Express shipping options are not available.
A PADI certification card is your passport to explore the world below the surface, and proof you’ve successfully completed PADI training. Carry your PADI certification card with you to verify your diver training level with dive centers around the world.
A PADI eCard is an electronic version of the traditional plastic certification card. It displays all the information instructors and dive operations need to verify your scuba certification including:
- Diver name
- Diver number
- Certification level
- Birthdate
- Certification date
- Instructor name
- Instructor number
- Dive center or resort information (if applicable)
- ISO qualifications (where applicable)
PADI eCards are hosted, managed and displayed through your PADI account and available anywhere you sign in. They can also be displayed through the PADI app, available free from Apple’s App Store or Google Play.
You can download PADI eCards to multiple devices within the same operating system (OS) family (Apple or Android) and re-download cards when upgrading devices within the same OS family.
After purchasing your eCards:
- Download the PADI App (if you don’t already have it)
- Log in using the same email address and password you use to log in to PADI.com.
- Select the PADI eCards button
- Click Update.
After purchasing a PADI eCard, it will be available for download instantly.
Please note: If you upload a new image, it may take up to two days for the new image to appear because it must be reviewed and verified by PADI Staff.
If you are having problems accessing your PADI eCard, follow the steps below:
- Confirm you have a strong data/internet connection.
- Ensure your mobile device is running the latest version of Android’s operating system or Apple’s iOS.
- Remove and redownload the PADI App. Ensure you type in your email address (or turn off autofill as this will add a space to the end of your email address and cause issues with your login).
Download the PADI App for Apple® iOS devices
Download the PADI App for Android™ OS devices - Restart your device, open the PADI App and select the PADI eCards button. Click update.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, contact the customer service team for your local PADI Office. Please include your full name, date of birth, the email address you use to log in to the PADI App and the eCard certification level you purchased.

Any replacement cards purchased after the diver turns 15 will automatically be printed without the “Junior” designation.
All you have to do to upgrade a Junior Diver card to a standard certification level is order a replacement card for the Junior certification level. If the diver is 15 years of age or older, the new card will not have Junior on it.
Divers who complete a certification with a PADI Five Star Dive Center or Resort automatically receive a gold eCard instead of the standard blue eCard. Divers who would like a gold physical certification card to match their eCard, can order one on padi.com. A diver who holds a gold eCard for a certification, or completed their certification with a PADI Five Star Dive Center or Resort, will automatically be issued a gold physical certification card if they choose a standard physical card at checkout.
If you would like a gold certification card, search for a PADI Five Star Dive Center or Resort, and complete a course with one of their instructors.
