Renee Blundon is a competitive freediver and PADI Freediver Instructor, who discovered a profound love of the water at the early age of five when she learned to swim. A certified lifeguard for three years in her teens, Renee joined a swim team at age 19, which provided the training to become a lifelong, skillful swimmer.
In the spring of 2013, Renee left the USA to travel solo throughout East Africa. It was in Tanzania where she first began diving in the warm, clear blue waters of the Indian Ocean. She joined the Dar es Salaam underwater hockey team, connecting with several freedivers in the area who introduced her to freediving.
Renee has since freedived around the globe including: the chilly quarry waters of South Africa; remote locations such as Mafia Island, Zanzibar, Pemba Island and Kilifi (Kenya); various lakes, ponds and offshore spots throughout Massachusetts and Maine; as well as Egypt, France and Italy.
A PADI Master Freediver Instructor, PADI Divemaster and EFR Instructor, Renee has competed in four freediving competitions and coached more than 70 students. She currently lives in Dahab, Egypt, where she continues to teach, train and compete in freediving competitions.
