Adam Maire + Christine West

Founders of Fins to Spurs / PADI Professionals

Travel fanatics Christine West and Adam Maire have spent more than 10 years working their way around the world with jobs that included PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor, teacher, trip leader and guide. So, it only made sense they would put their knowhow to good use when they formed Fins to Spurs in 2015, a project and website that encourages travelers to use adventurous opportunities like careers in scuba diving, horseback riding, surfing and rock climbing to fund more immersive trips around the world. “The goal for this type of travel is to interact with local businesses and people, resulting in more authentic and sustainable travel experiences,” West says. Fins to Spurs shares active job opportunities and volunteer positions worldwide to inspire others to get involved while traveling. They didn’t stop there. “Due to our belief in the transformative power of scuba diving and action sports, we organized the Sea Star Foundation, a nonprofit company dedicated to veterans, PTSD sufferers and the disabled through aquatic recreational therapy activities,” Maire says.
