PADI Zone at the Outdoors Show in Birmingham
|
Whether you are planning to go diving, paragliding, mountain biking or trekking - or just to go buy gear for your adventurous holiday - the Ordnance Survey Outdoors Show is something to make sure you check out next year too!
On the 16th –18th of March 2007 the NEC in Birmingham was jam-packed with inspiration, state of the art gear and basically all the information and hints on the great locations you could possibly need for your outdoor adventures.
Curious visitors also had the chance to meet the ten PADI Dive Centres and partners that exhibited within the PADI Zone at the show. The PADI zone was equipped with a dive pool organised and run by Scuba and Outdoor Pursuits (www.scubapursuits.com),
where try-dives were taking place throughout the weekend. For those who had recently developed an interest in diving or wanted to encourage a friend to give it a go, PADI instructors were ready to get people kitted up and into the water. Among other things, 180 Discover Scuba Diving sessions were completed in the PADI Zone try-dive pool.

PADI Regional Manager and Master Instructor, Graham Owen, presented cheques to some of the best photographers who entered the British Underwater Image Festival (BUIF) photo contest’s PADI sponsored category.
Graham Owen has been working in the dive industry for over 24 years, including some time as a Royal Australian Navy Diver. During his diving career Graham has dived in various locations around the world; from the beautiful clear blue waters of the Great Barrier Reef and the Mediterranean, to the spectacular and varied waters of the UK. |
|
In his PADI role Graham encourages people to discover the wonders and excitement of UK diving, and to capture their experiences to share with others through digital underwater photography. At the show Mr Owen also delivered some highly interesting talks on the subject of underwater photography. Award winning underwater photographer, Charles Hood, was also on hand to offer divers and photographers useful tips and advice about underwater photography.
In the PADI sponsored category of the image festival the winners received a total of £1000 worth of prizes. The names of the winners of the PADI category and their photos are shown below:
