Not a Diver Yet?

Even if you are not currently a certified diver, it’s not necessarily too soon to
start planning a career as a PADI Professional. You may know you love the underwater
world from snorkeling, the Discover Scuba Diving experience or other experiences
and you want to start thinking about a career that involves diving. If this describes
you, obviously, your first step is getting the PADI Open Water Diver certification.
PADI Open Water Diver
What it takes:
- Learn the fundamentals of scuba diving, including equipment and techniques by using
the PADI Open Water Diver Manual and Video, or CD-ROM, under your PADI Instructor’s
guidance.
- Confined Water Dives*– Practice skills under the supervision of your PADI Instructor.
- Open Water Dives**– Four actual scuba dives with your PADI Instructor in a typical
dive environment.
*Confined water: Generally refers to a pool setting, but also includes environments
that are calm and clear like a pool, such as a protected cove or shallow beach location.
**Open water: Any large body of water suitable for diving, including a lake, quarry
or the ocean.
***PADI dive programs are performance-based, rather than time based. Check with
your local PADI Dive Center or Resort for scheduling.
