Frequently Asked Questions
Who can participate in the Specialty of the Month?
In general, any certified Open Water Diver can take PADI Specialty Diver courses.* To receive free gifts from PADI, you must be an Open Water Diver and a current PADI Diving Society member. For more information on PADI Diving Society, contact your local PADI Dive Center or Resort or join PADI Diving Society online.
If you're an Open Water Diver and unsure which specialties you'd like to try, the Advanced Open Water Diver course is a great way to sample PADI Specialty courses. *Some specialty courses, such as Deep Diver and Wreck Diver require an Advanced Open Water Diver certification. Please speak with a PADI Professional for more information.
Specialty courses and becoming a Master Scuba Diver
To achieve your PADI Master Scuba Diver rating -PADI’s highest nonprofessional diver rating which denotes superior achievement- you'll need five PADI Specialty Diver certifications, so why not pick up some free stuff along the way? See the calendar above to pick your Specialty of the Month, and sign up for PADI Diving Society to start earning free gifts.
Where can I find a coupon for the Specialty of the Month free gift?
Redemption forms are published each month in Sport Diver magazine and can also be downloaded from the web. If the form you are looking for is not listed, the offer has either expired or is not yet available.
Where do I mail the paperwork for my free gift?
Send your redemption form and receipt showing the purchase of your specialty class and specialty crewpak to:
PADI
ATTN: Specialty of the Month
30151 Tomas St. Rancho Santa Margarita, CA 92688-2125 USA
Please ensure that your receipt reflects a purchase of the class and crewpak during the actual month that the specialty course is featured. For example, purchase of an Enriched Air Diver class and crewpak should appear on a receipt dated sometime in February 2007.
When can I expect my free gift to arrive?
Your free gift can be picked up from your local PADI Dive Center or Resort within 6-8 weeks of submitting your paperwork.
Who can I contact if I have not received my free gift?
Your free gift will be delivered to the dive center or resort where you completed your specialty course.* If more than 8 weeks have passed since your paperwork was mailed, and your dive center does not have your gift, please e-mail aja.smith@padi.com with your name, address, and the name of the specialty you are inquiring about.
I don't know if I am a current PADI Diving Society member / I need to renew my membership.
To check on the status of your membership, or to renew, please call: 888-333-7234 or +1 904-447-2535.
I just signed up for PADI Diving Society and I don't have my membership card or membership number yet.
Ask your dive center to complete the "temporary membership card" located on the PADI Diving Society application and include a photocopy (front and back) of this card with your paperwork. If the temporary membership card is not available, please provide a receipt or other document from your dive center.
I live in the U.S. but I'll be taking my specialty course in another country, can I still participate? How will I receive my free gift?
If your mailing address is in the United States or Canada, you are eligible to participate. Please enclose a note to let us know that the dive center where you were certified is not your home dive center and provide an address in the U.S. or Canada where you would like your gift mailed. Please note: PADI is not responsible for lost or undelivered gifts.
I live in a U.S. Territory, can I still participate?
Yes. However, you must take your specialty course from a PADI Dive Center or Resort serviced by the PADI Americas office.
