Announcing the 2008 Fujifilm Sodwana Shootout

PADI divers and their friends are invited to get their cameras out and get snapping for the 9th annual Sodwana Shootout which will take place at Sodwana Bay, Kwazulu Natal, South Africa from the 21st –24th May 2008. The competition is open to both digital photographers and videographers.

As part of the event, PADI International Ltd have sponsored a Digital Underwater Photography category themed around Project AWARE (Aquatic World Awareness, Responsibility and Education), and conservation. Project AWARE Foundation is a non-profit, worldwide, organization dedicated to "Conserving underwater environments through education, advocacy and action." There is a R2000 cash prize for the category winner with two runners up each receiving R650.

Apart from promoting photography and safe, eco-friendly diving, Sodwana Bay is part of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park World Heritage Site. The Shootout also supports the local school and community.
