PADI Offers $50,000 to Go PRO Go PRO

Challenge Offers $50,000 US in Prize Money to Boost Professional and Diver Level Certifications

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA - 7 March 2007 – PADI Offices worldwide are offering more than 50,000 reasons (in US dollars, that is) to become a PADI Professional, with the launch of the Go PRO Challenge. The latest in a string of innovative and highly effective marketing campaigns, the Go PRO Challenge encourages divers to take the next step and become dive professionals.

The campaign, part of an ongoing global commitment to increase continuing education revenue for PADI Members, consists of two contests:

  1. The Go PRO Challenge Video and Photo Contest, where PADI Professionals tell the world “Why I became a PADI Pro” and compete for a $10,000 US prize and,
  2. The Go PRO Challenge Professional Rating contest, which offers $10,000 US cash prize to each winner in four regions around the world.

Combined, these two contests offer a total of $50,000 US in cash prizes!

Targeting those divers who are considering becoming PADI Professionals, the Go PRO Challenge Video and Photo Contest is designed to capture the lifestyle and energy of dive professionals. To enter, divers need to achieve a professional-level PADI rating between 1 January and 1 October 2007 and submit a video or photograph depicting why they became a PADI Pro. Current PADI Pros can also participate by earning additional professional ratings and submitting their video or photo. The winner will be awarded $10,000 US and have their video or photo entry shown at the PADI Member Social hosted during the DEMA Show 2007 in Orlando, Florida, USA.

“Living the dive life is exhilarating and rewarding,” says PADI Worldwide President and Chief Operating Officer, Drew Richardson. “Everyday, PADI Professionals transform peoples’ lives by showing them the wonders of diving. The Go PRO Challenge will help show divers everywhere that they can actually live their dream job and share their reasons for becoming a PADI Pro with others.”

The Go PRO Challenge Professional Rating contest encourages PADI Members to advance their professional ratings and share their new knowledge and passion for teaching with others. Participants accumulate points by achieving PADI Professional-level ratings throughout 2007 and certifying divers using the new rating. The PADI Professional accumulating the most points in each of four worldwide regions (PADI Americas and Canada, PADI Europe, PADI International Ltd. and Nordic, and PADI Asia Pacific) wins $10,000 US – making a total of $40,000 US up for grabs in this contest alone! Members of the PADI Japan Office have a chance to win a separate prize (contact PADI Japan for details).

PADI Go PRO Challenge – add 1 The Go PRO Challenge officially launches in April 2007, but certifications earned after 1 January 2007 qualify for both contests. PADI Offices are supporting the Go PRO Challenge with a comprehensive promotional campaign that includes strategic placements in industry publications, as well as extensive digital efforts targeting PADI Divers via a variety of electronic communications and websites. PADI Dive Centers and Resorts will also receive comprehensive Go PRO Challenge marketing materials.

Complete rules for the Go PRO Challenge will be distributed to PADI Members in the PADI Americas and Canada region and posted on the Teach Diving section at padi.com in March 2007.
