PADI Asia Pacific prevails at the 12th Asia Dive Expo (ADEX) 2006
Sydney, 1st May, 2006. The Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI)
Asia Pacific are delighted to announce the accomplishments of the PADI Dive Pavilion
during this years Asia Dive Expo (ADEX) held in Singapore last week (21st April
– 23rd April).
The PADI Dive Pavilion featured 18 PADI Members and 3 Partners encompassing 12 podiums
with a combined total floor space of 180 square metres. Members and Partners came
together in Singapore from all corners of the Asia Pacific region including Australia,
Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka, Timor, Thailand, UK and
Vietnam.
The Asia Scuba Tour was supported by PADI and conducted by PADI Members – SeaBorne
International, Sea Hounds and Deep Blue Scuba, which proved to be an outstanding
success with the first-time divers. Close to 110 first-time divers were invited
to suit up and become part of the fast-growing and exciting dive community and PADI
officially validated each try dive with the use of the PADI Discover Scuba Diving
program.
PADI Asia Pacific unveiled the new PADI.com at this year’s expo, with visitors taking
the opportunity to explore the new site with PADI staff on hand to answer any questions.
One of the dive industry’s most visited websites, the new site features a completely
new look and allows visitors to submerge themselves in the diving lifestyle and
everything that PADI has to offer. Aimed at making information accessible to the
visitor, the new site has been organised into three main categories – Start Diving,

PADI Asia Pacific also ran a full seminar timetable this year with a total of 20
seminars over 3 full days. Topics catered to both individuals and PADI Professionals
including; Digital Underwater Photographer, Risk Management, an introduction to
the PADI Diving Society, a look into Project AWARE and EVE.
With the launch of the PADI Digital Underwater Photographer Specialty Course, PADI
& Olympus provided ADEX visitors with an insight on how to ‘Conquer the Underwater
World’. PADI’s new Digital Underwater Photographer course offers you the perfect
opportunity to expand your diving horizons with a digital camera! With underwater
digital photography quickly becoming one of the most fascinating activities for
underwater enthusiasts around the world, the new PADI Digital Underwater Photographer
Specialty Course is designed for all water enthusiasts including snorkellers and
divers and will provide you with the tools to develop your skills and easily obtain
captivating underwater photos.
Project AWARE showcased their AWARE Kids programme, a programme aimed at inspiring
kids to learn, create and take action. Activities were held in the Sea Star Conservation
Arena, an area dedicated to showing children how they can make a difference in marine
conservation efforts. Project AWARE also held an Underwater World Art Workshop as
part of the Sea Star Conservation programme and every child who participated received
a copy of the AWARE Kids activity book.
